Haywards Heath Lions Club has continued fundraising during the Covid-19 pandemic by building and selling wooden garden planters.

The last of our Garden Planters have now been sold!
Sales of these garden planter boxes have raised much needed funds allowing HHLC to continue to support those people in our community who need it most. Thank you to everybody who has purchased a garden planter.

A Haywards Heath Lions Club member (who shall remain nameless, although he has now let his secret persona slip) has been hand building these beautiful wooden planter boxes and selling them to the generous public of Haywards Heath and surrounding areas since July 2020.
The funds raised from selling these handmade wooden garden planters has allowed Haywards Heath Lions Club to purchase Christmas Gift vouchers totalling £2,700 from a well-known supermarket chain – all of these vouchers were given out to 55 vulnerable families, helping a total of 135 children – and ensuring that those children had a happy Christmas in 2020.
Update: Garden Planter sales have now exceed 175 units and this has raised over £3,340 for Haywards Heath Lions Club.
Haywards Heath Lions Club has been raising funds for local families in need at Christmas for over 30 years but due to the pandemic, government restrictions and increasing costs, had to cancel their annual Father Christmas Carol Collection so the activities of our stalwart Lion, who is 83 has been remarkable. He continues to build his planters in order to boost funds still further during this unprecedented period. Hayward Heath Lions Club President, Richard Johnson said that “thanks to the initiative and effort of our very modest member (no name or picture wanted by him) the club will be able to continue its tradition of helping vulnerable families at Christmas”.
If you would like to purchase a Garden Planter for your self or as a gift for the gardener in your family, then do get in touch with us. You can choose from a natural wood finish, a stain coat or painted colours. If you’d like the planter to be ‘seeded’ for you, please let us know when you order and we should be able to include Daffodils, Tulips, Crocus and Winter Flowering Pansies.
