Haywards Heath Lions Club – Swimarathon & Open Evening
On Good Friday 7th April, Haywards Heath Lions Club will be holding their annual Swimarathon at The Dolphin Leisure Centre. Swimmers of all ages and abilities are needed to support the event. Teams consist of six swimmers who swim as a relay team for 55 minutes. Some teams are made up of older swimmers taking things at a very leisurely pace, others of swimmers who want to speed along, some are family teams, and some are made up of people who just want to have fun and enjoy the experience. All are very welcome!
This year will be the 38th time the club has staged the event over the past 40 years with 2 years being missed due to Covid.
This year the club has chosen West Sussex Mind to be the main beneficiary, receiving 50% of the sponsorship raised. This local independent mental health charity supports local people with their mental health needs, provides specialist training and campaigns to improve services, reduce stigma and provides greater understanding of mental health.
Each team can then choose their own local charity/local good cause to receive the remaining 50% of their sponsorship.
There is no entry fee charged.
Further information and an entry form can be found on our Swimarathon website hhlionsswim.co.uk
We are also encouraging residents to find out more about the activities of the Haywards Heath Lions Club including our Swimarathon, specs recycling service and our Message in a Bottle scheme. To show how volunteering can make a difference and help in the community we are holding an open social/information evening at the Haywards Heath Town Hall on Tuesday 21st March from 7 to 9 pm and warmly invite you to come along and meet us. Just turn up or ring our secretary on 0345 83355807.
